Ester Naomi Perquin

Ester Naomi Perquin (Netherlands, 1980) writes poetry and columns for De Groene Amsterdammer and VPRO The Evenings, is the editor of Tirade magazine and was poet of Rotterdam. She debuted in 2007 with the collection Servetten Halfstok (Napkins At Half Mast), which received immediate acclaim. In her second collection, Namens de ander (On Behalf of the Other), she examines fears and phobias, as well as the often-complicated relationship of the self to the other. Among other awards, she has received the Jo Peters Poetry Prize and JC Flower Prize. With her third collection, Celinspecties (Cell Inspections), she draws from her background as a prison guard in Rotterdam. This collection appeared in the spring of 2012 and was awarded the prestigious VSB Poetry Prize in 2013.
