Ilya Kaminsky

(Ukraine, 1977)
 

Ilya Kaminsky (Soviet Union / USA, 1977) grew up in Odessa and moved to the United States with his family at age sixteen. For his work he has received many awards both in the United States and abroad, including the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Metcalf Award for his collection Dancing in Odessa. Kaminsky also collaborated on several anthologies, was the editor of the online magazine Words Without Borders for many years, and now publishes the annual print magazine Poetry International (which has no affiliation with the Poetry International Foundation). Kaminsky writes in English, and currently teaches literature at the University of San Diego.
