Knut Ødegård

Knut Ødegård (Norway, 1945) debuted as a poet at the age of 22 with Drøymaren, vandraren og kjelda (Dreamer, Hobo and Source), after studying theology and philology in Oslo and Cambridge. He has since published several poetry collections, poetry translations, children’s books, and works of non-fiction. For his poetry he has received several awards, and was knighted in both Norway and Iceland. He worked for years as a literary critic for the leading Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, and initiated the international Bjørnson literature festival in Molde. Today he is Consul General for the Republic of Macedonia in Norway, and President of the Norwegian Academy of Literature and Freedom of Speech.
