Najwan Darwish was born in Jerusalem in 1978. He continues to live and work there as advisor to the Palestinian Festival for Literature (PalFest), and also as a critic, cultural journalist and founder of multidisciplinary projects. Since his debut in 2000, Darwish’s poems have been translated into ten languages, most recently in Je me lèverai un jour, a selection of his poetry in French translation. In a balanced manner, his work bridges the gap between poetry and politics, powerfully illuminating social reality.
