Ulrike Draesner

(Germany, 1962)

Ulrike Draesner (1962) is an erudite writer whose poems owe their lucid complexity to a rejection of intellectual specialisation. She invites us into a dialogue about our modes of encountering the world, investigating the loops and elisions of memory. Draesner’s poems are charged with an inquisitive restlessness, and are quick to discover the many sensory associations that accompany an image. In addition to poetry collections, she has published novels, short stories, essays, translations and radio plays.
