Vahe Arsen

(Armenia, 1978)

Vahe Arsen (1978) was born in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The city, where Arsen also teaches world literature at the State University, permeates his poems. Within the magical surroundings of Yerevan, lorries with iron lips can burst into tears like a child without a toy. At the same time, the poet feels weighed down by the clamour of construction work and the human hordes all around him. Accepting loneliness and alienation as his lot, Arsen embarks on a battle against technocratic society. His often lengthy poems give voice to a personality that is averse to all conventions.
