The author of nine books of poetry, Raquel Chalfi was born in Israel and lives in Tel Aviv. She finished a master's degree at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem while working as a radio program editor and a television documentary director at the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
After studying in Berkeley, where she was awarded a playwriting prize, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was awarded a scholarship at the American Film Institute. Later she returned to Israel and to the Broadcasting Authority, where she works to this day. She has taught in the Film and Television Department at Tel Aviv University for many years, continues to write poetry and plays and to make films.
