Márcio-André (1978), from Brazil, has appeared as a poet and audio-visual artist at many international festivals and expositions with his video art, art installations, and performances. In 2007, he read out poetry for hours on end in the irradiated ghost town of Chernobyl, after which he was called the world’s first radioactive poet. In his erudite poems, the cosmogeny of the word is king, but the genre only comes to life when Márcio-André leaves his language-laboratory – for him, true poetry comes through the grace of execution.
