Paul Henry was born in 1959 and lives in Newport, South Wales. He is a Welsh speaker but writes entirely in English. His four collections, of which A Slipped Leash (2002) is the most recent, are all published by Seren, the most important publisher of poetry in the English language in Wales. A new volume is expected in 2007. Meanwhile, Gwasg Carreg Gwalch have issued The Breath of Sleeping Boys, a kind of mini-Selected Poems. Paul Henry is a creative-writing tutor, and as a song-writer his music has a notably strong influence in the lyric impulsion of his poetry.
